I grew up with illegal immigrant parents. We were always facing financial hardships when I was growing up. My parents worked multiple jobs in order to put food on the table. Neither of my parents had a high school education and yet they did their best to put a roof over our head. I took my education as an escape from my reality. I remember spending the majority of my free time on Myspace.com, where I first learned what it meant to "embed" code into my profile settings. I remembered how satisfying that was, which motivated me to enroll myself into my first computer science course in the 6th grade. In this course I recreated frogger using an early version of python. After we recreated frogger, we codded a hot dog stand video game where we created objectives and different levels.
On December 13th, 2009, my mother had received a phone call acknowledging that my father's body had been found after he had been kidnapped. I was 11 years old when he was murdered. Traumatized, I receeded into my studies, receiving the Metro Youth Mayors Award for maintaining a high GPA during challenging times. I stayed dedicated to my frogger game, altering it and updating it as time went on.
My time in high school was challenging, my family was torn apart, my older brother had gotten deported and I lived in fear of loosing my mother to deportation and becoming orphaned as a teenager. To hide from these daily worries, I dove deeper into web development. I enrolled an entire semester to my schools Web Development course where I learned to use HTML, CSS, and JavaScript on Adobe Dreamweaver and later publishing and hosting on Weebly. Using Web Development as a resource, I was able to attain a Summer internship with the Denver Museum of Nature and Science where I worked alongside the Museum Curators in Chaco Canyon, NM excavating pre historic turtles out from the middle of the desert. I later reconstructed the Morondova Basin in Madagascar during the Cretaceous time period. During this time I also created and managed Facebook Pages by posting and creating content such as memes and other online media. I began to advertise and create content on facebook since 2012.
After graduating high school, I enlisted in the US Navy's Submarine Program. During my time in the service I was able to work on fast tracking my mothers residency paper work and was finally able to keep my mother from facing deportation. During my time in the Navy I also received a Secret Clearance that allowed me to work on board near a Nuclear Fission Reactor. During these busy days I maintained my skills through platforms like CodeAcademy.com
After being medically discharged with CPTSD, and Insomnia, the pandemic hit, I chose to dedicate my time to my family, myself, and my community. I volunteered my time with grass roots orginizations and mutual aid orginizations to create progress in my community by feeding and clothing our unhoused neighbors and by helping those in need. I also dedicated my time to completing my Bachelors in Computer Science at
Franklin University
